Lee has spent his life navigating the various intersections of explicit and implicit racism. His career is in public policy and systems change where he spends an insane amount of energy trying to convince people that the root cause of many of the inequities they are all purportedly meant to address is structural racism. He won’t stop telling them though even if they sometimes have a hard time hearing it. By ”them” he means mostly white folks in powerful places who want to see a more equal world but struggle with what that might require and what role they might play in perpetuating racial harm. But it’s hard to stop pushing even when it gets him in trouble. Too much of himself is tied to the harm in our society that not acknowledging structural racism has caused.

Chance has navigated race and racism on many different levels.  From spending much of his grade school career as the “only,” to being a family “first” (college and law school), those portals of education were learning experiences in and of themselves.  He works in the public sector, where on a daily basis he sees the manifestations of a country founded on and fueled by racism.  On his own time, he advocates for equity and racial justice and has had countless personal and group interactions where racism, most often in the form of white supremacy, has made its presence felt.  A collector of white tears, he is steadfast in avenging his dumbfounded 16 year old self who had to endure a high school lecture extolling the virtues of slavery.

Autumn loves everything about being a woman of color, except for when race becomes “a thing.” As a new mom and aspiring attorney, she hopes that this podcast will pave a way for important conversations to be had in all corners of our increasingly diverse culture and world. She spends her time balancing work and play, advocacy, and storytelling throughout the African Diaspora.
